Grant Applications

The Sandra Schmirler Foundation provides grants directly to hospital foundations for the purchase of life-saving equipment for premature and critically ill babies in Canada.

Grants are limited to the purchase of life-saving equipment and cannot be used for capital campaigns.

The Sandra Schmirler Foundation believes it is important to acquaint the public with its grant-making activities. By submitting a grant, hospital foundations agree to the following: a media release announcing the grant, a public announcement with a cheque presentation, recognition fitting with the amount of the grant and promotion of the annual Sandra Schmirler Telethon in its publications and social media.

Use the form below to submit your proposal. Proposals for grants will no longer be accepted by email. Deadline for applications is February 1, 2025. All funding decisions will be made by the end of June of 2025.

Please inform Tanya Martin immediately if there are any changes to the equipment you are seeking funding for, or if the equipment has received funding from another source and you need to update your application. This information is essential to appropriate allocation of resources.

*Does this equipment directly save a baby's life or does it provide essential support by monitoring and/or regulating vital functions?

*Is this piece of equipment new for the hospital or is it replacing an aging piece of equipment or increasing the inventory level of this piece of equipment to ensure a high level of care?
